The Hornworm (Manduca sexta) instant Microwave Cookie Dough Artificial Diet, 1/2-lb is quick and easy to prepare. Fast, easy, safe, and effective. Just add 1 part of the dry mix to three parts of cold tap water. Mix thoroughly and dispense into rearing cups. The diet contains high density nutrients (no extra water or agar fillers) and provides high feed conversion. If used judiciously the 200g package will feed up to 100 feeder size hornworms.
This diet is easy to prepare with cold water and can be used after mixing. Simply add water to the dry mix until a stiff cookie dough consistency results. Directions: Slowly add and mix 3-parts (150 ml) of water to 1-part (50g) dry mix until a stiff cookie dough results. Mix thoroughly for 3-5 minutes with a butter knife. Optional: As a preservative and mold inhibitor, add 8ml of white vinegar, to 142 ml of water prior to mixing. For larger batches a paddle countertop dough mixer is recommended. 1/4-lb Slowly add and mix 3-parts vinegar solution containing 324-ml (11-oz) water + 18-ml (0.6 oz) white vinegar to 1/4-lb (114g) of the dry mix until a stiff cookie dough results. 1/2-lb Slowly add and mix 3-parts vinegar solution containing 645-ml (22-oz) water + 36-ml (1.2 oz) white vinegar to 1/2-lb (227g) of the dry mix until a stiff cookie dough results. 1-lb Slowly add and mix 3-parts vinegar solution containing 1290-ml (44-oz) water + 72-ml (2.4 oz) white vinegar to 1-lb (454g) of the dry mix until a stiff cookie dough results.
