Butterfly Observation Chamber, Cylinder with lid, OCY100

$7.99
Excellent for housing butterfly host plants, larvae and adults. The clear plastic cylinder has a 7- inch diameter and stands 27 inches tall, providing 360 degree classroom group viewing. Assembly of the Large Butterfly Observation Chamber, Cylinder and lid INSTRUCTIONS: Roll the 26” x 24” plastic sheet to form a 7” cylinder by overlapping the top and bottom edges about 2.5-inches. Using a ruler and Sharpie felt pen, mark a 2.5-inch overlap on the top and bottom of the cylinder. Make sure the top and bottom are flush and properly aligned. After you have overlapped one end of the cylinder 2.5-inch secure it using a piece of Scotch tape. Next, turn the cylinder over and secure the other end. Finally, attach a third piece of tape about midway between the top and bottom. After you have assembled the observation chamber, secure the plastic cap atop the cylinder with Scotch tape. Place the cylinder on a flat surface. Using the Observation Chamber Place the observation chamber over your potted plant when your larvae grow to over one inch. The observation chamber is necessary to keep the larvae from wondering away, to provide a suitable area for your larvae to form its chrysalis and to provide a cage for your adult butterfly when it emerges from the chrysalis. If the plant is too tall you may want to cut the stem and place it in a vas inside the observation chamber. Your larvae will usually remain on the plant until they reach >1 inch in size. During the last instar your larvae will start to wonder from the plant in search of a suitable place to pupate, usually on the plant or at the top of the chamber.
